Land
Tiohtiá:ke.
The place we call Montréal sits on the unceded traditional territory of the Kanien'kehá:ka.
Tiohtiá:ke, "the place where the rivers meet", was a gathering place for many First Nations long before it was a city. The Kanien'kehá:ka are recognized as the custodians of these lands and waters.
This site is made on that land. Acknowledging it is a small and continuous act, not a formality.
